Be sure to review all check-in procedures, equipment handling guidelines, and
event dates and info before making your final travel preparations. Oh, and be
sure to Have Fun!
Consolidation is the key as we have a limited amount of
cargo space on the aircraft. This is the MAIN REASON for limiting people to only 1
suitcase.
ONE carry-on will be allowed per person but they must
fit in either the overhead bin or underneath your seats. Maximum size of each carry
on is limited to a total of 44 inches.
44 Inches is the combined total of the height/width/depth added together
All instruments must be in cases, no soft-sided cases
will be allowed in the cargo bays. Any instruments that are in softsided cases must
go on the aircraft. PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE MAXIMUM DIMENSIONS AS PREVIOUSLY
STATED FOR CARRY-ONS.
All instrument cases must have sturdy latches on them.
If possible, use straps to circle each case. Straps must be tight and hooked
to stay in place. Try to wrap the straps over the instrument case latch.
Where straps are unable to be used, use the extra
strength packing/strapping tape to secure each case. The type of tape suggested has
the nylon string or filament running throughout it. DO NOT USE REGULAR SEALING TAPE
AS THIS DOES NOT HOLD.
Use heavy duty cardboard to cover each
drum head prior
to sealing up the drum case. This will help to protect drum heads.
Inside of each instrument case, stuff plastic laundry
sleeves around instruments for extra cushion. If you have access to the "bubble
packing" this will work well.
Uniform boxes: make sure that you use the extra
strength packing/strapping tape to wrap each uniform box from top to bottom, completely
around the box.
luggage tags: these will be supplied by International
Travel and must have the following information on them:
School Name
School Street Address
City, State, and Zip Code
School Telephone Number (Including Area Code)
Complete any remaining information as listed on the
luggage tags that will be supplied. All tags will be color coded.
Flag Bags: wrap with extra strength packing/strapping
tape. You may need to have 2 or 3 groupings of flags wrapped together. Wrap
tightly on both ends.
Make sure to bring extra tape for the return trip.
